This past two days, I had two separate strangers tell me that "everything happens for a reason" and "things will fall into place the way that they are supposed to". While I genuinely believe this to be true, its not every day that complete strangers are the ones telling me what I need to hear most, especially so closely to each other.

This made me stop and think. If I needed to hear this message, its likely that others do too. How often have you found yourself feeling stuck? Unsure of why you are in the current position in life that you are? Wondering why this is your experience and when it will all make sense?

I find so often when looking back on things that have happened in my life, it makes complete sense that everything happened in the order that it did for a specific reason. For example, I met my sweet husband at one of the lowest points in my life when I let go of my "planned path" and trusted my gut. This experience has planted in my mind a deep seed of trust and faith, as I met my life partner at the time in my life when things seemed the most bleak and uncomfortable. Do you have experiences like that as well? I am sure that you will find you do, if you open your heart and look at your experiences with an objective eye.

While you may be in a tough point in your life right now, take some time to sit back and look at your life objectively. Notice the doors that had to close in order for the next ones to open and you to walk through them. Find gratitude in the positive experiences that you have had in your life, as a result of those closed doors. Give yourself time to make sense of why you may be in the situation you currently find yourself in and most of all, trust the process.

Of course there are always going to be things in our life that are harder to make sense of. Like tragic accidents, loss of loved ones, etc. But rather than looking at the negative aspects of these events, what if we look at the positive side of it? I don't mean this in a Pollyanna-type way, but in more of a big picture viewpoint. Acknowledging both the good and the bad. What if we highlight the fact that we loved someone deeply enough to miss them when they leave the physical world? Or the idea that we can learn something uniquely powerful from every part of our lives, even the painful parts, if we allow ourselves?

The law of attraction is something that I find to be very powerful. What we focus on is where we end up going. Where we place our expectations increases the likelihood of such an experience. We can look at this as being powerless over the outcome of our lives if we refuse to mindfully focus our intentions on where we want our lives to go, or we can will for amazing things in our life by thinking them, acting as if, and setting positive intentions. The root of of all of this is trusting the process, as time takes time.

I choose over and over again in my life to trust that things are happening exactly as they are supposed to, whether they make sense to me in the present moment or not. I choose to have faith in the bigger plan and to go with the flow of life. At the same time, I choose to be present, purposeful in my actions, and set positive intentions for my life. What do you choose?

  • Have there been events in your life that when thinking back, you realize that your intentions have impacted the outcome?
  • What is the underlying theme that tends to drive your life? Is it fear, hope, passion?
  • What if you let go of the preconceived notions that what you wish for is too far out of your reach, and rather, trust the process and imagine yourself at the finish line?
  • What would it look like if you have achieved your dreams?
  • How might that feel?
