For moms who want to heal and reclaim their birth story
When your birth doesn’t go as you had hoped or expected, it can leave you feeling sad, angry, anxious, guilt or shame. It can also feel as though you missed out, your body failed you, or the medical system failed you. And it can be difficult to talk about it with friends and family who “just don’t seem to get it” or know how to help.
Trauma can occur anytime an experience impacts you negatively.
While many moms don’t initially recognize their birth story as traumatic, if you are experiencing the feelings listed above, then you are likely experiencing symptoms of trauma. Other signs you are struggling are if you are finding yourself avoiding thinking about your birth or afraid to go through birth again, even if you still want to grow your family.
Birth trauma can also occur if you or your baby faced health complications or if you had medical interventions you were not comfortable with that left you feeling like a science project rather than a human.
If you are in emotional pain, then your trauma is valid, regardless of the extent or specifics of your experience.
